Not Ready

Are you? Are you ready for -- gulp -- Easter?

Dude, I can't believe it's already April, let alone Easter. The month of March flew by and now I'm having to think about Easter baskets, entertaining the in-laws, coloring eggs.

My kids off of school for an entire week (shoot me now!).

Check out what I made last year as Easter treats.

I was so ambitious! I could tell you the recipe was uber hard and it took me hours to prepare but that would be a lie. It was way easy. And the recipe is here if you're interested.

So are you ready? Prepared for the big Easter fest? Suffering at the thought your kids will be home for an entire week and anticipating the fights? (I am!) Do you celebrate in a big way or a little way? I would call ours medium. We gotta hide eggs for the kids you know!

They look yummy. Easter is pretty low key for us with no stress. I think hubby is on call this year so it will be extra quiet. I think I might bake some Easter biscuits though.

Those are adorable!

Easter in our house isn't much of a deal, though I'm not quite looking forward to spring break. That means hubby/son are home together all day, and I imagine walking in the door after work into the middle of a few arguments.

Then again, they could surprise me....

These are TOTALLY cute! I am going to see if I can work them in.

I am making a bunny cake (those of you on FB, know my dilemma). I will have to post pics this weekend. My boys love to decorate it. No one is coming for Easter, but we'll do the obligatory egg hide and small brunch and small dinner (nothing too big, I don't want to work THAT hard!).

Yep I bought the Easter treats yesterday, but I ate my Mr. Munchy, which is a chocolate rabbit with rice krispies in it. Mmmmm. Munchy.

When the kids were smaller we would hide the eggs/treats, they would find them and beg us to hide them again - it was a all afternoon event!

They are older now, 11, 15, and 18 but they still get an Easter basket with goodies and stuff. Oldest is coming home from college to go to church with us, and we'll probably let him choose a place to eat, whether he wants me to cook (highly doubtful) or a nice restaurant.

Don't forget that the Lindt chocolate bunnines (the gold wrapped ones), the proceeds go to Autism Speaks! Most of you, know it's a cause dear to my heart.

I know what you mean, Karen! I just got over our chapter's annual regional RWA conference in Dallas and haven't done a thing to prepare for Easter! Ack! I've got to get new dresses for myself and my daughters. New shoes wouldn't hurt either. And the Easter Bunny has zip, zilch, nada basket stuff. Omg, I'm hyperventilating... :)
Love those treats, Karen. How cute. We usually take turns hosting it at my mom's house or mine and every brings something for Linner, (lunch/dinner)I make a honey-glazed ham and deviled eggs, and usually rice krispie treats. My youngest (9) still loves to dye eggs and we hide them in the back yard for the little grand neices and nephews and my cousins' kids. My aunt makes her famous cinammon cake and my mom used to make Greek Easter Bread. I think I'll pull that recipe out...
Great post, Karen.

Since my kids are 3 and 5, I have to make Easter a big deal. :-) I host a family BBQ and the boys have an egg hunt and get baskets...of course, that means I have to buy candy to fill those baskets, and I *cannot* resist Easter candy. Sigh.

OMG Juliet's list of Easter foods for linner (we call it that too, lol) just made me so freaking hungry...

And I can't resist Easter candy either! Katie I need to get some Lindt bunnies, stat. :)

Oh man, those look good. I am resisting all candy temptations, even tho Peeps are one of my great downfalls.

I don't where the time went either this year, but I'm not even close to ready. No candy for baskets, no decorations up, no egg dye, no clue what kind of toy to put in baskets (I, too, have little kids)...I feel like a slacker mom! Good news is I'm planning on shopping on Thurs. and then we're gonna do eggs on Saturday. All will be fine, but, geez Louise, it sure snuck up on me. :(

I have a very low key Easter. It is the only holiday that I refuse to travel, so it is normally just me and maybe I get together with friends. This year, my brother is in town, so we will do lunch or dinner somewhere special.

I don't have lil'uns so Easter is pretty low key for me. I'll go to sunrise mass, because I know noon is gonna be packed! and probably have dinner with my family.
