My Vacation

Last week my kids were on Spring Break and I decided to break with them. By this, I mean I took a break from the computer. Much like what Lori talked about last Monday.

(It really does feel like the mouse makes the world go 'round...)

I was able to do this because I'm in between projects. Finished revisions on a partial, finished a book. Which meant I really didn't need to be sitting on my computer checking in with all of those things I like to procrastinate with (hello Google Reader!) all day long.

It was...refreshing. I spent more time with my husband and kids. We actually went to the movies (OMG it was the Hannah Montana movie but hey, the kids were happy). I didn't feel the need to check my email constantly (well only semi-constantly, I can't totally break the habit). It felt good to reconnect with my family. It felt good to step away from the laptop, something I don't do often enough.

And the previous week/start of this week is now occupied with my mother visiting. We haven't seen her in four months so there's a lot of catching up to do and it's even better when I can avoid the computer.

I'm writing this post on Sunday night - come Monday morning after we drop the kids off at school (bye bye kids!), my mom and I are going out to breakfast. And then we're going to hang out at Barnes & Noble. This is like my dream morning come true.

So tell me, what do you do when you're not on the computer? It can be as mundane as purging out the kids' closets (which I did last week, too), just share!

What???? You mean I have to step away from the computer?

LOL - that's very difficult for me. I'm actually going on holiday at the beginning of May for ten days and won't have Internet access. I intend to read, laze on the beach and drink lots of fruity drinks. Heaven!

I actually read and get some writing done. Oh, and exercise. It's amazing! LOL!

Have fun with your mom. That does sound like an awesome morning.

I love to read. I hate to admit it, but I kinda liked "Hannah" (yes, my boys begged to see it)....but I thought the ending was kinda silly.

I watch tv and rest (I have had a cold the last couple of weeks). I walk everyday (weekday) or do yoga.

P.S.I didn't get to cleaning out the closets this busy season (hubby is a CPA) and boy, can I tell!

Katie I kinda enjoyed Hannah too - it's ok to admit it. But the ending was completely corny. Oh well...

Sounds like we all like to detox from the computer sometimes. Kinda. LMAO

I usually am too busy with work when I step away from the internet. On the weekends, I will read, visit with friends and family, or catch up on tv rather than get on the computer.

My nieces loved the Hannah Montana movie, and I kindof want to go see it. Might go with my friends when they take their girls.

Exercise, read, clean, shop, spend time with fam, go outside and get some fresh air. A nice sunny day feels really good after a long time on the computer!

If I'm away from the computer, I could be doing anything. Shopping, doing yard work, making jewelry, reading. *Stuff* with Hotrod.

;o)

I live on the computer..and when I'm not on, I'm watching DVDs of shows I've missed. Sometimes it is not a good thing since I stay up late and get all cranky in the morning! :)
